How to ZEST. If you are right-handed, hold the lemon (citrus) in your left hand with a side up as if it were the neck of a violin. Take the Microplane® Zester in your right hand and make sure the sharp edges of the cutter are aimed away from you toward the lemon. Now, stroke the Zester across the lemon as if you were playing the violin. The zest collects in the upper channel. Voila! Incredible fine shavings of zest--no more grated knuckles!

Care & Cleaning

Dishwasher safe.
We recommend rinsing your grater in warm water immediately after each use. Remove particles stuck in the blade from the back side whenever possible. To remove "stuck on" food from the front, first soak the tool in warm water and then use a cleaning brush and stroke in the same direction as the teeth.
Store with blade covered when not in use.

Our Microplane is one of our favorite kitchen utensils. (Sue - Desoto, TX)
We prefer the one without the handle. We grate into the plastic cover which is less messy and more efficient in getting every last bit of zest. We wonder how we ever got along without it. Our 7 grandchildren all use it too and we have zest or grated something in almost everything they eat when they visit. I original purchased ours for my husband for Christmas - he is the cook and we have many gadgets. When I tried to buy one for my brother - who is learning to cook after retiring, and one of my sisters - who also enjoys culinary participation - I could not find one without the handle - so I contacted Microplane on line. An absolutely great product. I will visit you again when it is time to find a special gift for friends or family. And, you apparently have a customer service friendly customer service. What a novelty!

Wife loves it. I'm using on fresh nutmeg for breakfast mufffins from whole grain freshly ground wheat. Boy are they good.
