Reviewed: Square, Large Microplane
I have used the Microplane to enlarge holes and clean extra plastic on
Little Tykes play equipment and also used it to form some CCA treated
lumber.
The Microplane worked very well for these purposes. Much better than a
wood rasp. Have not used it on formica which was my original purpose
because after I got it I decided that it is too coarse for filing down
edges.
If I hadn't had access to the Microplane, I would have used a wood rasp
which would have been a lot slower process in both the plastic and the
wood.
Using the Microplane in wood and plastic the life expectancy will
probably be measured in years.
I think that it is fairly and competitively priced when comparing to a
wood rasp or Stanley® Surform® tool.
The Microplane is a much better tool than a Stanley® Surform® tool. I
also want to thank you for allowing me to try out your new tool.
Thank You,
Greg Geyer.

Mostly I have experimented with the Microplane. I have found it to be
an excellent product. I sent for it to help clean up a few hard to get
to areas on architectural corbels I was working on. It did not leave as
smooth a finish as I needed but I was impressed with its ability to
remove material for a roughing
process.
I think that it will have a very useful life but at this point I don't
really know how long it will last.
I consider the suggested retail price of $12.63 for the Square,Large
Microplane to be a fair price, a very fair price. I will be buying more
to keep on hand.
Suggestions? I would like to be able to get closer to inside corners.
I was impressed enough with the Microplane that I showed it to a local
cabinet makers supply house. I took the Microplane literature with me
and they will be contacting you for information so they can add to their
product line. I attended the American Woodworker Show this week end and
noticed that
the Microplane was being demonstrated. It seemed to draw a large crowd.
Your product is far superior to the Surform.
My company, The Woodworkers Network, specializes in architectural
details. I am constantly experimenting with new products because we are
called upon to produce many varied products. I look for tools that
will help me produce quality products. What I look for are simple tools
that can be used
in many different situations. I am not looking for gimmicks! Your
Microplane has made it to my tool rack. I sure it will become a valued
part of my tool collection. I would like to see smaller finer cutting
Microplanes.
Sincerely,

I did receive the Microplane. Have used it to remove excess wood for a
carving project. It is the best I have ever used.
There is no comparison between the Microplane and the Surform.
The Microplane performs much better. The cost is a bargain. I
am now looking for an outlet to buy the
hacksaw.
Thanks for the great product.

Yes, I did receive the Microplane, thank you. To be honest I had no
specific purpose in mind when I took advantage of your offer. In fact I was
skeptical that your company would send what appeared to be a well made
tool for free.
I do a fair amount of woodworking and antique restoration. At
present I'm restoring a home built in 1821. As a result this summer has
been very busy and I have only had a few opportunities to try out your
tool. However, I like its light-weight construction and how well it
seems to hold its sharpness.
I can see where I will be using my Microplane on many of the woodworking
projects I do.
If I hadn't had access to the Microplane, I would have used a rat tail
rasp
I expect it [the Microplane] to last at least several years under heavy
use.
I consider the suggested retail price of $12.63 for the Round,
Large Microplane to be a fair price. I expect I would spend as much on a
good rasp with a handle.
[I would like to know] if there is a way to offer an optional second
handle that is removable. This handle could be attached to the other
end of your Microplane. The user may require a two handle tool for ease of use.

Reviewed: Microplane® Replacement for Stanley® Surform®
Thanks for sending me the Microplane; it's just what I was looking for.
I was working on a project where I glued up several 1" boards together
so they were staggered and I needed to round them smooth.
I tried a lot of different methods; power sander, Surform®, Hand plane.
When I received the Microplane replacement blade for the Surform I tried
it right away.
I was very happy with the results, it removed the wood rapidly and the
surface was smooth and not ripped up like the Surform produced.
The Microplane is still as sharp as when I received it and I expect to
get many years of use from it. For what the Microplane can do the price
is a bargain.

Reviewed: Rigid Microplane for Hacksaw Frame
I use [the Microplane] to remove wood/smooth the surface on my
woodcarvings. It leaves a very smooth surface.
[If I hadn't had access to the Microplane, I would have used a] Surform
tool, but your product leaves a much smoother surface.
I havn't had it very long, but after extended use, [the Microplane] does
not seem to have lost any of its sharpness.
I like the rigid Microplane because it is rigid and can be used without
the use of a hacksaw handle
